It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done a monthly favorites, isn’t it? I think it’s the perfect time to resume the tradition, now that the holidays are over and everyone’s lives are starting to settle down again. I have a very unique selection of obsessions to share with you today, so I hope you find some quarantine inspiration!
Soap Making
January wasn’t my first time making soap, and it definitely won’t be my last. Compared with making candles, which I personally find to be stressful and messy, making soap is actually so simple and rewarding! For one thing, you don’t really need a ton of supplies, and most of them will last you a while once you buy them. Secondly, cleanup is easy because soap, unshockingly, breaks apart easy in water! And thirdly, you are left with some fabulous soap to either gift away or keep for yourself. I’ve been selling some soap on my etsy shop, so if that interests you, click here.
Crocs
Oh, crocs. The most comfortable and convenient shoe. Mayhaps the ugliest, but the most functional and perfect nonetheless. When I have my sport straps activated on these babies, you know I am NOT messing around. I was gifted a lovely pair of fleece-lined crocs for Christmas and I could not be more grateful for them. I wear them around the house, to the grocery store, on the train, and pretty much everywhere else I’m allowed to (which excludes work.) My next step (haha, no pun intended) is to buy some little Jibbitz that spell out my pets’ names.
Saucy Ramen
While I normally do try to cook dishes that I feel have a high ✨nutritional value✨, sometimes I’m just digging some super salty, saucy, delicious ramen. I found this recipe on Pinterest a few weeks ago and I’ve made it at least three times since then. Particularly when I was going through my absolutely awful week (you know, the one where I broke up with my longtime partner and then lost all of my life savings to a scam,) this ramen was one of the only things that I felt like putting in my body. It’s delicious and wholesome, and it’s also vegan!
Smokey Glow
Since I discovered Smokey Glow’s channel about a month ago, I have been absolutely binging her channel and listening to tons of her content, new and old. She is a beauty/makeup/commentary channel who makes a lot of videos talking about everything from new launches in the makeup community to personal opinions on beauty guru drama, and I am here for ALL OF IT. I have even purchased a couple of products that I really love per her recommendations. She genuinely comes across as such a caring, innovative, deeply thoughtful creator, and I love sitting down to watch her videos after a stressful day at work.
PLANTS
Plants! I love plants! And usually, I kill them. But trust me, I am NOT going to let these beautiful angels die. First of all, these plants have highly innovative wicks at the base of the pots, which allow the water to travel upwards into the roots rather than down through the leaves. This means they’re always getting the perfect amount of water, which is good for me, because I have an unfortunate habit of overwatering my plants. They are currently living happily on my windowsill, soaking in the sun. And yes, they all have names.
That’s everything I’ve been using to keep myself busy as we enter 2021, which will *hopefully* be less traumatizing than 2020. Do we share any favorites this month? Let me know below!
