Now that I am making tips at work and my income is steady, I’m happy that I’ve been able to make a few fall purchases here and there. If I am going to make any sort of purchase, especially if it’s something on myself, I try to stick with things that I know I will keep and take care of for as long as possible. With that being said, let’s hope I’ll get a good, long use out of all of these new purchases!

Quilted Bedding | Target

I’ve been using white bedding for a while now, and while I like it in theory, it’s not as nice anymore when you realize it looks SO dirty so fast. Literally two days after I washed my white bedding, it would already be covered in lint and dirt and look just as unkempt as it did before. A lot of the bedding/bedroom setups I’m drawn to on Pinterest are yellows and burnt oranges, so when I decided to purchase some new bedding, that’s the color scheme I opted for. I would have ideally wanted a set that came with pillowcases as well, but I couldn’t find a set in my size, so I just opted for the quilt instead. I like it because it’s not too heavy, it’s extremely easy to wash, and so far, it’s been holding up nicely! Definitely a pricey purchase, but also worth it.

Plaid Scarf | Target

I saw this scarf during the same shopping trip as the bedding, and seeing how it was only 5 bucks, it didn’t take long for me to decide to buy it. I like this style of scarf because it can be worn as both a shawl or a regular neck scarf, and since I’m living on a budget, there’s nothing I love more than a two-in-one! I’m looking forward to keeping warm with this all season long (and for many seasons to come,) even if I already have a mask to cover the lower half of my face.

Denim Overalls | Gap

This was actually purchased for me by my lovely mother (who has a matching pair, might I add,) but I’m still going to add it to my list of new fall additions. As far as I know, I’ve never owned a pair of overalls before now, and I am totally in love with them. Even better, I’m allowed to wear them to work at Starbucks because they fit the dress code! I’m so excited to wear these out as long as I can- hopefully for many years to come. I love clothing that is functional, comfortable, and of course, very cute.

Pastel Tie Dye Hoodie | Aerie

Fall is the ultimate hoodie season, so I’m making sure I’m well-stocked in that department this October. Aerie was having a 40% sale on all their hoodies, and since this one looked extremely soft and pretty, I ultimately decided to buy it as a little treat for myself at the mall. Nathaniel has also been loving this hoodie, and according to my friends at college, he’s even been seen sporting it around campus. I can’t say I blame him- it really is a great hoodie!

Grateful Dead Hoodie | Urban Outfitters

Speaking of hoodies I’ve been sharing with Nathaniel, we’ve both been loving this super huge, cozy, Grateful Dead sweater I bought with my tip money last week. I normally don’t really shop at Urban because it’s so expensive, but they do have a great selection of Grateful Dead merch, and I knew I would get a great use out of this hoodie. It also now holds sentimental memories for me, as I brought it with me to a family wedding last weekend and wore it while we all sat around the fire. I think cozy, big hoodies are always a good purchase, so I can’t say I regret purchasing it.

That’s pretty much everything I’ve been loving this fall, from my wardrobe to my bedding! I love everything, but I think I’m especially living for the overalls and the Grateful Dead hoodie. Let me know what you guys are excited about this fall in the comments below!

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all adjusting nicely now that Christmas is over. That being said, New Years is right around the corner, so the festivities aren’t over yet! For my final article of blogmas, and my final article of 2019 at that, I’m going to be sharing with y’all what I got for Christmas. A majority of these things are from my mother, as I only live with her, but I also received a few things from friends and relatives. Let’s get into it!

IMG_7659.jpg

As many of you know, Eli is my best pal in the whole world. We’ve been friends for about eight years, and one thing I know about Eli very well is that he’s not great at remembering to buy gifts. Not that I feel entitled or that I expect him to- it’s just something I’ve noticed that he tends to let birthdays and holidays slide (and that includes everyone, even his family). So, this was the long introductory way of saying I was totally shocked when Eli bought me this stuffed animal heating pad! Yes, it is soft and fluffy, and yes, I have been sleeping with it every night. I found it to be especially thoughtful because Eli lives thousands of miles away, and I don’t get to see him very often, so this lil guy is sort of like a reminder that Eli is always with me. You know, in a sappy way.

So recently, my mom bought a candle from TJ Maxx called “Alpine Frost.” Please believe me when I say this is one of the most splendid candles I have ever smelled, and I remind my mother how much I love it constantly. Here is my evidence:

So it came as no surprise when she gave me my own alpine frost candle for Christmas, and yes, I was very excited about it! I’m telling you, Alpine Frost is absolutely delightful. If you find one at TJ Maxx, I highly suggest buying it. She also bought me a candle called “Berry and Spruce,” which is equally lovely and delectable-smelling. I love having candles going while I chill around the house and get writing done, and I especially love winter scents!

This next gift was actually for my mother and I, gifted to us by our lovely neighbor, Rocky. These are Bond Touch bracelets, and basically, it means my mom and I can send each other little “buzzes” through the bracelet to remind the other person that we’re thinking of them! It’s so incredibly wholesome, and my mom and I have already gotten such a good use out of them. The bracelets literally vibrate when the other person sends you an alert, and also lights up in the color of your choosing. This was such a thoughtful and well thought-out gift, because my mom and I are incredibly close and I miss her when I go away to school. Now, we can stay BONDed for life! (Get it?)

This notebook was another thoughtful gift from a different neighbor, my lovely friend JoAnn. I love the vibrant pattern of the cover, and the lined pages are going to be perfect for planning out Analog content and meetings! As many of you know, I’m a huge fan of stationary and anything that has to do with writing, so I always love receiving a notebook or a journal. I’ve already started filling out the pages with notes and future content, and I’m looking forward to using to more in the future. Thank you, JoAnn!

IMG_7656.jpg

Because JoAnn is apparently an absolute angel, she also bought me this cute ‘lil eyeshadow palette by Colourpop. I love warm-toned copper eye looks, as many of you can probably tell from my pictures, so this is a perfect palette for me. I’ve also never used Colourpop cosmetics before, and I have to say, the blendability and performance of these colors is amazing! Now that I’ve tried one of their palettes, I’m totally tempted to pick up some of their monochromatic additions. Eyeshadow palettes are definitely my favorite makeup item, so I’m always happy to receive one as a gift.

IMG_7657.jpg

Aaand, here’s another one! I made a very short Christmas list this year, but this palette was one of the two items on there. I’m pretty sure it was NikkieTutorials who I saw using this, and that’s what inspired me to try it myself. I love that there’s a combination of practical and bright colors, and from what I’ve gathered from using the palette so far, the pigmentation is absolutely amazing. Mom, if you’re reading this, thank you for the palette! Apparently you can only get it from England, so I appreciate that she paid for that Royal Shipping. Mom, you the littest.

From here on out, the rest of the items are things that my mom got me. Apparently I was a good daughter this year, because she got me some really beautiful, thoughtful things that I’m very appreciative of. I genuinely love everything she picked out for me! This coat in particular is one of my favorite gifts from Christmas (it’s a close second behind the Alpine Frost candle). I love the warm inner lining of the coat, and of course, the fake fur is a stunning touch as well (yes, it’s fake, don’t worry!). I’ve already worn it out on a hike with Duke, and as you can see, he’s very excited about the coat as well.

Another lovely gift my mom purchased for me was this 25 Lb weighted blanket. As some of you who also struggle with mental health probably know, weighted blankets are amazing for helping with anxiety and insomnia. I’m not sure what the exact science is, but I know it’s very similar to the way deep pressure therapy works. Anyway, I really appreciated that my mom bought me this because it felt validating, in a way. I’ve been using it for the past few nights, and wow, I’m having a hard time getting out of bed! This thing is absolutely amazing. My sleep has already tremendously improved from where it used to be (y’all OGs will remember), but this blanket is helping me even more. I’m looking forward to bringing it back to school with me and *hopefully* continuing these healthy sleep patterns.

IMG_7658.jpg

I love my makeup, as you know, so that also means I need a way to carry my makeup around. I’ve never really owned a nice makeup bag because I didn’t feel like investing in one, so for the past couple of years I’ve been carrying it around in a gallon Ziploc bag. So it comes as no surprise that my mom was gracious enough to give me this lovely makeup bag for Christmas. The material is super sturdy and soft, and I love that it’s big enough to hold even my giant eyeshadow palettes. It was a lovely Christmas addition, so thank you again, mom!

The last few things were essentials that I am always running out of- toothpaste, socks, and headphones. I always appreciate toiletries, because like I said, I’m always running out of things like toothpaste and face wash while I’m at school. I’m really appreciative of everything she bought me, from the blanket to the socks, and I know that she appreciated the things I bought for her as well. It was a really lovely Christmas, and I had such a warm, cozy time spending time with her and the rest of my family. And that, of course, is the best gift of all 🙂

That wraps up Blogmas and 2019! Thank you so much for a year of kind comments, memories, and love. I’ve already started my articles for 2020, and I’m hoping that you’ll love them as much as I do. Have a lovely day everyone!

It’s undeniable that I have a pretty large crystal collection, and with the number of cute crystal shops around me, it’s a given that I’m continuously adding to it! There are also a number of online crystal sellers to choose from, which is where I got most of the crystal’s in today’s haul. I actually already had quite a few of these crystals already in my collection, but like I said, I love to keep adding.

The seller I purchased these crystals from is RubyDubyDu in Amazon, and they arrived pretty quickly after I placed my order (even though they weren’t shipped with Prime). The only crystal I picked up in person was spirit quartz, which I purchased at a store called Village Silversmith.

Citrine is really the star of this new bundle, because I received two very large, raw chunks of it. I did own citrine before this, but I only had one very small, tumbled stone. Considering all the lovely benefits of citrine, I can always justify adding more of it to my life. Citrine best aligns with the solar plexus chakra, and it is perfect for bringing energy and abundance into your life. I’ve heard it described as “sunshine encapsulated into a crystal”, and that’s a pretty accurate description of citrine’s power. I consider citrine to be a classic stone in anybody’s collection, and it’s one of the first stones I recommend to beginners.

Garnet is a powerful stone that can be utilized for the root and sacral chakras, because the energy of the stone is all about passion and earthiness. Some stones are renowned for having more feminine energy than others, and this is definitely a stone that I associate with that energy. It’s been said that garnet is excellent for regulating sex drives and sensual explorations, so if you’re looking to spice things up in the bedroom, consider tucking a piece under your mattress. Additionally, going along with the feminine-energy theme, garnet thrives best when it is recharged in new moon nights. Garnet is also safe for water cleansing, if that is something you prefer.

Aventurine is a stone I have mentioned a few times before here on The Diplomat’s Digest, and that’s because pink and green stones are my absolute favorites to collect. Some people believe that green aventurine is the luckiest out of all the crystals, especially when it comes to manifesting prosperity and wealth. For me personally, I love this stone because it represents new growth. It’s easy to feel tied down by the privations of the past, or the guilt of your mistakes, so I enjoy meditating with aventurine to remind myself to let go. Aventurine itself comes in a variety of different colors, and I also have this stone in yellow. It’s an absolutely stunning crystal, and I would recommend it to everybody.

Malachite is the most recent crystal I have covered here on my blog- I actually just wrote a full-page analysis of it last week, if you’re interested in learning more! In a nutshell, malachite is ideal for letting go of trauma. The energy of this stone promotes self-worth, willpower, and forgiveness- especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Malachite contains both heart and solar plexus chakra energies- an unusual combo for a crystal. If you experience blockages in your self worth and self-esteem, you may want to consider adding malachite to your collection. It’s easy to find, and it’s also approved for water cleansing. Just don’t touch raw malachite, as the dust particles can be toxic! Polished malachite is always best and safest.

Clear Quartz is possibly the most versatile, easily accessible stone I can think of, and I have tons of it. Unlike many crystals that come from specific parts of the world only, clear quartz is a universally-found stone, and it’s probably one of the cheapest you can buy. Clear quartz is also ideal for all of the seven chakras, making it a great beginner stone if you’re not sure what to buy first! Because it is such a versatile stone, it is important to listen to this crystal and let it guide you, rather than the other way around. Generally, clear quartz is used for transformation, clarity, and healing- in all senses of the word.

Pyrite, also known as fool’s gold, is a stunning crystal to feast your eyes upon. Perfect for the solar plexus chakra, pyrite aids in confidence, luck, abundance, productivity, and supercharged creativity. If you really need a boost of get-it-done energy, pyrite is an excellent stone to have on hand. It can help you burn through procrastination, which is something I appreciate greatly (especially when I’m trying to focus on writing!). Pyrite is an ideal workspace crystal, so I’m definitely going to be stashing this stone on my desk to have near while I’m working on projects and goals.

Tiger’s Eye is an absolutely gorgeous, dark stone, with ribbons of gold running through it. Like clear quartz, Tiger’s Eye is a another versatile stone, perfect for the sacral, solar plexus, and root chakras. It is a perfect stone for energy activation, courage, and protection, especially when you find yourself facing a new, scary situation. Tiger’s Eye was also very popular in the 1970s, when people compared its energy to the fire of activism and social change. If you are trying to add some positive changes to your own life, you may get a lot of satisfaction out of the courage this stone will bring you. I know that I sure do.

Carnelian is a perfect stone for energy, creativity, confidence, and vitality- all things that align with the sacral and solar plexus chakras. Like garnet and tangerine quartz, carnelian is an excellent stone for aiding in sexuality and vibrancy in the bedroom. It’s also ideal for sparking creative energy, and can help you to prioritize your physical goals. It’s like a pocket-sized personal trainer, constantly encouraging you to get up and get moving. Additionally, carnelian is immune-boosting, so keep it close by in cold and flu season!

Moss Agate is a cleansing, renewing crystal, and it’s perfect for strengthening your garden’s energy. I occasionally will nestle crystals into the soil of my potted plants, because who’s to say my plant isn’t benefiting from the positive energy? I sure like to believe it does! Like many green stones, moss agate is also an ideal stone for attracting abundance, especially if you’re trying to bring in some extra cash dollars in the workplace. Personally, I’ll just stick to putting it in my garden, but let me know if it brings you any wealth or prosperity!

Spirit Quartz is one of the two crystals in my haul that I have never owned before now, so I’m extremely excited to work with it! It’s an absolutely gorgeous, elegant stone, and comes in varieties of milky pearl, lilac, and even orange. The particular type of spirit quartz I have is called “fairy spirit quartz”, which is the opaque white variety. White spirit quartz is perfect for activating all seven chakras, and resonates well with physical healing in the body. Like many other white crystals, this variety of spirit quartz symbolizes feminine energy, ancient goddesses, purity, and unity.

Those are all the crystals I’ve picked up in the last few weeks, and I’m so excited to meditate, analyze, and familiarize myself with them. Like I said, I got a majority of these stones online, so I’ll leave the link to the shop I used below.
