Quartz itself is a very common variety of crystal (in fact, it’s the most common crystal), but there’s nothing ordinary about Spirit Quartz. Spirit Quartz is a delicate blend of Amethyst, Citrine, Smoky Quartz, and White Quartz, and it comes in a variety of different gorgeous colors. My particular specimen of Spirit Quartz is of the White Quartz variety, and has a beautiful, milky, ethereal pearl glow. Like many other white crystals, white Spirit Quartz is a symbol of peace, feminine energy, cleanliness, and unity. It is also sometimes called Fairy Quartz, which is also a very fitting name for the stone.

White Spirit Quartz- very similar to the piece I have in my own collection.

The other five types of Spirit Quartz are Amethyst Spirit Quartz, Citrine Spirit Quartz, Smoky Spirit Quartz, Aqua Aura Spirit Quartz, and Flame Aura Spirit Quartz. In theme with the color associations, Amethyst Spirit Quartz is ideal for channeling the higher chakras, such as the Third Eye and Crown chakras. Citrine Spirit Quartz, which takes on a pale gold hue, is ideal for utilizing self-worth and empowerment. Smoky Spirit Quartz is a gray-brown variety, perfect for releasing deeply held emotions and letting go of trauma. And lastly, Aura Aura and Flame Aura help are used to channel water and fire energies, respectively.

A stunning piece of Aura Spirit Quartz

Although all of these varieties are beautiful and important, I’m going to be focusing primarily on the White (Fairy) Spirit Quartz. Spirit Quartz is well-known for bringing harmony and bonding to families and groups of people. It stimulates healing and peace in households where tension and pain may be high, although no crystal should ever be used in place of what actual therapy or authority figures can offer. For all milder purposes, however, Spirit Quartz can be excellent for relieving tensions and rivalries. In regards to physical healing properties, Spirit Quartz of all varieties is believed to aid in allergic reactions, scars, cysts, and growths. Because the feminine energy of Spirit Quartz is so strong, it is also believed to help with infertility and difficult pregnancies.

My favorite thing about White Spirit Quartz in particular is that it can be used to energize all the chakras equally. It is perfect for meditation and promotes a peaceful state of mind, as the gentle energy of the stone cleanses your mind and fills you with ethereal joy. Spirit Quartz is also associated with a variety of different guardian angels and spiritual beings, if that’s something you  believe in. I’ll leave a link below detailing the chart and how they correlate with the different varieties of quartz.

Although it’s not as common as “regular” quartz, such as clear quartz or plain amethyst, quartz can still be found readily online and in crystal shops. You’ll find lots of different varieties of Spirit Quartz on Etsy in particular, so feel free to pop over there if you’re interested in buying some!

I was first introduced to this powerful crystal after reading in excerpt about it in The Little Books of Crystals by Judy Hall. Auralite 23 is an absolutely beautiful concoction of 23 different elements and minerals, and is only available from one crystal gem mine in the entire world. I am lucky enough to own a small rod of it myself, and I often find myself just marveling at its delicate beauty. I discovered through research that Auralite 23 is the world’s oldest gemstone- developed more than 1.5 billion years ago in “The Cave of Wonders” in what is now Ontario, Canada. Unsurprisingly, Auralite 23 can be hard to find. It is available from a few Etsy retailers and online crystal retailers, but just make sure you are shopping from a reliable source.

Image result for auralite 23

Because Auralite 23 is made up of 23 minerals, it’s basically like you’re getting 23 crystals in one! Some of the most notable healing properties of Auralite 23 include self-acceptance, self-confidence, lucid dreaming, soul following, calmness, and intuition. Auralite 23 is a highly spiritual stone, and is best utilized for the Third Eye and Crown chakras (although it is also perfect for balancing the rest of the chakras). In regards to physical healing, some people believe that Auralite 23 can help with relieving tension, headaches, eye strain, and muscle spasms. I like to have a few certain crystals around me while I am working or doing strenuous activity, and Auralite 23 is one of those special stones. Because it has such intense energy, some people believe that Auralite 23 is too powerful to use for unwinding and relaxing. I personally haven’t noticed any strong intensity coming from my stone, but maybe that’s because I have such a comparatively small piece of it.

Image result for auralite 23

Perhaps as an attribute to its ancient beauty, Auralite 23 can help to promote wisdom and ancestral healing. If you are someone who is interested in advancing your metaphysical healing practices, Auralite 23 is a truly magical addition to have. Although Auralite 23 may look delicate, it has a powerful, profound healing presence. I am so happy with the joy I feel radiating from this crystal, and I am very much looking forward to meditating with it in the future to continue my journey to self-actualization.

Like I said, Auralite 23 is very rare and can be hard to come across if you aren’t looking in the right places. Spiritualmagickal.com has a collection of Auralite 23, but they are huge chunks of the gem and cost up to thousands of dollars. If you are searching for a small, pocket-sized piece, I recommend the Etsy shop TheGoddessCircle. She has almost 500 reviews on her shop, and currently stands at five stars. I bought my medium-sized Auralite 23 wand from this shop for under $25, and it’s an absolutely beautiful piece.

If you are interested in learning more about Auralite 23, I will include the link to one of my favorite information sites below! Thanks for stopping by and giving my blog some love.

It’s undeniable that I have a pretty large crystal collection, and with the number of cute crystal shops around me, it’s a given that I’m continuously adding to it! There are also a number of online crystal sellers to choose from, which is where I got most of the crystal’s in today’s haul. I actually already had quite a few of these crystals already in my collection, but like I said, I love to keep adding.

The seller I purchased these crystals from is RubyDubyDu in Amazon, and they arrived pretty quickly after I placed my order (even though they weren’t shipped with Prime). The only crystal I picked up in person was spirit quartz, which I purchased at a store called Village Silversmith.

IMG_0346.JPG

Citrine is really the star of this new bundle, because I received two very large, raw chunks of it. I did own citrine before this, but I only had one very small, tumbled stone. Considering all the lovely benefits of citrine, I can always justify adding more of it to my life. Citrine best aligns with the solar plexus chakra, and it is perfect for bringing energy and abundance into your life. I’ve heard it described as “sunshine encapsulated into a crystal”, and that’s a pretty accurate description of citrine’s power. I consider citrine to be a classic stone in anybody’s collection, and it’s one of the first stones I recommend to beginners.

Garnet is a powerful stone that can be utilized for the root and sacral chakras, because the energy of the stone is all about passion and earthiness. Some stones are renowned for having more feminine energy than others, and this is definitely a stone that I associate with that energy. It’s been said that garnet is excellent for regulating sex drives and sensual explorations, so if you’re looking to spice things up in the bedroom, consider tucking a piece under your mattress. Additionally, going along with the feminine-energy theme, garnet thrives best when it is recharged in new moon nights. Garnet is also safe for water cleansing, if that is something you prefer.

Aventurine is a stone I have mentioned a few times before here on The Diplomat’s Digest, and that’s because pink and green stones are my absolute favorites to collect. Some people believe that green aventurine is the luckiest out of all the crystals, especially when it comes to manifesting prosperity and wealth. For me personally, I love this stone because it represents new growth. It’s easy to feel tied down by the privations of the past, or the guilt of your mistakes, so I enjoy meditating with aventurine to remind myself to let go. Aventurine itself comes in a variety of different colors, and I also have this stone in yellow. It’s an absolutely stunning crystal, and I would recommend it to everybody.

Malachite is the most recent crystal I have covered here on my blog- I actually just wrote a full-page analysis of it last week, if you’re interested in learning more! In a nutshell, malachite is ideal for letting go of trauma. The energy of this stone promotes self-worth, willpower, and forgiveness- especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Malachite contains both heart and solar plexus chakra energies- an unusual combo for a crystal. If you experience blockages in your self worth and self-esteem, you may want to consider adding malachite to your collection. It’s easy to find, and it’s also approved for water cleansing. Just don’t touch raw malachite, as the dust particles can be toxic! Polished malachite is always best and safest.

Clear Quartz is possibly the most versatile, easily accessible stone I can think of, and I have tons of it. Unlike many crystals that come from specific parts of the world only, clear quartz is a universally-found stone, and it’s probably one of the cheapest you can buy. Clear quartz is also ideal for all of the seven chakras, making it a great beginner stone if you’re not sure what to buy first! Because it is such a versatile stone, it is important to listen to this crystal and let it guide you, rather than the other way around. Generally, clear quartz is used for transformation, clarity, and healing- in all senses of the word.

Pyrite, also known as fool’s gold, is a stunning crystal to feast your eyes upon. Perfect for the solar plexus chakra, pyrite aids in confidence, luck, abundance, productivity, and supercharged creativity. If you really need a boost of get-it-done energy, pyrite is an excellent stone to have on hand. It can help you burn through procrastination, which is something I appreciate greatly (especially when I’m trying to focus on writing!). Pyrite is an ideal workspace crystal, so I’m definitely going to be stashing this stone on my desk to have near while I’m working on projects and goals.

Tiger’s Eye is an absolutely gorgeous, dark stone, with ribbons of gold running through it. Like clear quartz, Tiger’s Eye is a another versatile stone, perfect for the sacral, solar plexus, and root chakras. It is a perfect stone for energy activation, courage, and protection, especially when you find yourself facing a new, scary situation. Tiger’s Eye was also very popular in the 1970s, when people compared its energy to the fire of activism and social change. If you are trying to add some positive changes to your own life, you may get a lot of satisfaction out of the courage this stone will bring you. I know that I sure do.

Carnelian is a perfect stone for energy, creativity, confidence, and vitality- all things that align with the sacral and solar plexus chakras. Like garnet and tangerine quartz, carnelian is an excellent stone for aiding in sexuality and vibrancy in the bedroom. It’s also ideal for sparking creative energy, and can help you to prioritize your physical goals. It’s like a pocket-sized personal trainer, constantly encouraging you to get up and get moving. Additionally, carnelian is immune-boosting, so keep it close by in cold and flu season!

Moss Agate is a cleansing, renewing crystal, and it’s perfect for strengthening your garden’s energy. I occasionally will nestle crystals into the soil of my potted plants, because who’s to say my plant isn’t benefiting from the positive energy? I sure like to believe it does! Like many green stones, moss agate is also an ideal stone for attracting abundance, especially if you’re trying to bring in some extra cash dollars in the workplace. Personally, I’ll just stick to putting it in my garden, but let me know if it brings you any wealth or prosperity!

Spirit Quartz is one of the two crystals in my haul that I have never owned before now, so I’m extremely excited to work with it! It’s an absolutely gorgeous, elegant stone, and comes in varieties of milky pearl, lilac, and even orange. The particular type of spirit quartz I have is called “fairy spirit quartz”, which is the opaque white variety. White spirit quartz is perfect for activating all seven chakras, and resonates well with physical healing in the body. Like many other white crystals, this variety of spirit quartz symbolizes feminine energy, ancient goddesses, purity, and unity.

Those are all the crystals I’ve picked up in the last few weeks, and I’m so excited to meditate, analyze, and familiarize myself with them. Like I said, I got a majority of these stones online, so I’ll leave the link to the shop I used below.

Malachite is a crystal I have wanted to add to my collection since the beginning, and now that I have it, I’m so excited to study it and eventually start working with it. I love all crystals, but pink and green crystals in particular resonate with me the most. It probably has something to do with the fact that pink and green are my favorite colors, and also, those colors correlate with the heart chakra. Green stones can also symbolize abundance- abundance of love, joy, and spirit.

Malachite is believed to carry extraordinary healing abilities. It’s all about holding onto good vibes and living in the moment, but when necessary, reminds us to turn over a new leaf. The stone channels new, spiritual growth, and “prunes off” the brambles holding you back.

A stunning close-up shot of polished malachite.

Malachite not only symbolizes emotional growth, but also promotes and celebrates the growth of nature. I love to set different crystals around my plants, so malachite, selenite, and moss agate have been my go-tos lately. Malachite is perfect for plants and gardens because it draws out impurities and fixates on the beauty of the flowers, trees, roots, and plants.

In regards to physical healing, malachite is considered excellent for female energy. Some people believe that malachite can help lessen the pain of menstrual cramps, sexual dis-ease, and even labor pains! To me, meditating while on my menstrual cycle is a form of low-stress, healthy self-love. If I am ever feeling particularly stressed or plagued by my menstrual cycle (which happens often due to PMDD), I love to sit cross-legged on my bed and meditate with a few crystals. If you also struggle with a hormonal imbalance, I would definitely recommend adding malachite to your crystal collection. Other physical healing properties associated with malachite include relieving cold sweats, malaria, trembling/Parkinson’s disease, asthma, and kidney problems.

While malachite is most often associated with the heart chakra because of its color, you can also use it to promote energy flow in your Third Eye to activate visualization and psychic awareness. Malachite is also excellent for the solar plexus chakra, because it facilitates deep, emotional healing, and releases negative energy/old traumas. Obviously, all of these reports are based off of opinions and personal experiences, but if you are someone who suffers from trauma-based anxiety (like me), you might find some solace in meditating with this stone. I love all my crystals, but malachite truly is a stone that I have an extra-strong relationship with. Malachite really vibes with me, and it’s a stone I enjoy reaching for in times of emotional distress or pain of the past.

Important information to know about malachite: while some stones can be combined with water to make elixir, you should NEVER consume malachite. You should also only use polished or tumbled malachite, as the raw form and dust particles can be toxic. Malachite is an easy stone to purchase, and can be found in bulk on a variety of different websites. I actually purchased my tumbled malachite from a seller Amazon, and I am so happy with the quality and size of the stone! Like I’ve said before, Village Silversmith is my favorite place to purchase crystals, but they are only readily available in the New England area. Amazon does have some surprisingly good options, and there are a multitude of Etsy shops that will offer the stone as well.

As many of you know, crystals and stones are a major part of my life. I love to collect them, research them, and use them in practical application. But what is “crystal healing”? And do I actually believe in it?

Short answer: Kinda.

Long answer: First and foremost, let’s establish what crystal healing actually is. In a broad sense, crystal power refers to the belief that the vibrations of crystals and stones can positively line up with our bodily energy field. I do believe that there is truth to this- as Nikola Tesla said, everything vibrates, everything has energy, everything has frequency. Crystals, in their fragile, exquisite state, are excellent sources of positive energy and enlightenment. Crystal healing has been used since the beginning of time in ancient civilizations, including the ancient Egyptians. There’s a lot of fascinating research on the history of crystals in culture- I highly recommend looking into it!

A lot of crystal healing is dependent on thinking. If you think your crystals have healing potential, the more likely they are to amplify positive thoughts. Or, in even simpler terms, if you think it will work, it probably just will (aka the placebo effect).

For the record, there’s nothing wrong or derogatory about crystal healing being based on placebo. If you’re still getting that sense of relaxation and inner peace…why does it even matter?

IMG_7882
One of my newest crystal additions, a raw chunk of citrine!

I’ve had many enlightening experiences with my crystals, but it’s hard to say whether or not it was an actual scientific experience of crystal enlightenment. There isn’t really a way to prove that crystal healing really works on, say, a molecular level, so it’s definitely up to the interpretation of the person using the crystals. For me, I like to believe that my experiences are mostly placebo, but I never completely exclude the possibility that the vibrations of the crystals affect my energy field.

There are particular crystals that I feel a strong, unexplainable attraction to, such as bloodstone and green aventurine. These crystals heighten certain emotions in me- peace, happiness, tranquility, and ultimately, anxiety relief. My attachment and love for these stones undeniably heighten the fact that they “work” for me. It goes back to the placebo effect- if you want something to work, it probably will, even if there is no scientific backing behind it. It doesn’t really matter to me either way- I still love to meditate with my crystals after a stressful day, or pop a couple in my bag on my way out the door. If something is working for you and creating a positive impact on your life, why not indulge in it and accept it? And even more importantly, why bother tearing it apart and questioning it? I try not to think about whether or not what I’m experiencing is actually scientific, because at the end of the day, it simply doesn’t matter to me.

Whether or not crystal healing is “real”, I still enjoy writing about it, exploring the different believed properties, and using the stones in practical application. I really, truly love taking care of the gifts of nature- animals, plants, and especially crystals. Crystal collecting and healing is a beautiful hobby to pick up, because there is such an abundance of information on crystals and how we can interact with them on an emotional level. Whether or not you actually believe in them, it’s impossible not to admire their delicate, graceful beauty.

THE BASICS:

Chakra: Throat, Third Eye

Birthstone: None

Zodiac: Sagittarius

Planet: Moon

Element: Water, Air

Typical Colors: Rich royal blue, green, yellow, violet, with white veins or patches

When I was first getting into crystals and stones about a year ago, sodalite was one of the first crystals to catch my eye. I have a couple pieces of sodalite- one tumbled, and one raw, but they’re both equally beautiful and interesting to look at. To me, sodalite resembles a planet being born, covered in royal blue water with veins of white ice running through it. In that case, I suppose it makes sense that sodalite is utilized to strengthen spirituality in the Third Eye chakra, and how we think creatively and intuitively.

I read a quote in a book about a metaphorical “veil” we have between ourselves and the rest of the world, and to me, that’s a great way to explain the concept of the Third Eye to someone. I’ve mentioned the quote many times before on my blog, but I’ll add it in here just in case you haven’t heard it:

“Mom says each of us has a veil between ourselves and the rest of the world, like a bride wears on her wedding day, except this kind of veil is invisible. We walk around happily with these invisible veils hanging down over our faces. The world is kind of blurry, and we like it that way. But sometimes our veils are pushed away for a few moments, like there’s a wind blowing it from our faces. And when the veil lifts, we can see the world as it really is, just for those few seconds before it settles down again. We see all the beauty, and cruelty, and sadness, and love. But mostly we are happy not to. Some people learn to lift the veil themselves. Then they don’t have to depend on the wind anymore.”

When we open our Third Eye -or lift the veil- we are able to see the world for what it really is, and pay adequate attention to the hefty concepts in life. If you’re like me, and you struggle to remember what really matters in life sometimes, you might benefit from adding sodalite to your crystal collection. Emotionally, sodalite brings order and calmness to the mind. Meditating with sodalite encourages rational thought, objectivity, truth, and intuition, and self-esteem. It can also aid with calming panic attacks, if that is something you struggle with. When my PMDD is at its height, I find that I am more prone to panic/anxiety attacks, so sodalite is a must-have.

Image result for sodalite
Raw sodalite chunks

Some people also believe that sodalite can aid in physical ailments, like boosting the immune system and overcoming calcium deficiencies. Because sodalite correlates with the throat chakra as well, it can also be used to treat the throat, larynx, and voice hoarseness. Additionally, some people have claimed that sodalite can aid with insomnia!

I love sodalite, because it’s a total “Renaissance man” of crystals. And by that, I mean it’s wonderfully useful for a variety of different things. Whether you need help with your sleep schedule, your self confidence, or your connection to the spiritual world, sodalite could definitely be the stone for you.

Sodalite can be very easy to purchase, both online and in your typical crystal store. I get most of my crystals from Village Silversmith, which is a shop based in the New England area. If you’re interested in purchasing sodalite online, Etsy is a great place to start! Like many other crystals, it’s very inexpensive and can be purchased in bulk.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this crystal diary today. I’m hoping to get to Village Silversmith soon, so I can stock up on some new crystals to show you! I just recently bought a gorgeous cluster of spirit quartz, so maybe that will be the next crystal I write about!

SODALITE Mental Clarity Stone, Study Buddy, Meditation Crystal

THE BASICS:

Chakra: Heart

Birthstone: May

Zodiac: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Libra

Planet: Mercury

Element: Earth

Typical Colors: Green

I love all crystals for their unique, marvelous purposes, but pink and green crystals are usually my absolute favorites. This is mostly because pink and green are my favorite colors, but also, the properties of the heart chakra really resonate with me. As you may have guessed, the best stones for the heart chakra are pink and green- including emerald, of course!

I think my love of emerald originates from my mother, because she wore a emerald wedding ring when she was married to my dad. I was totally mesmerized by the deep, royal color of the ring, and remember thinking when I was little that I wanted an emerald ring, too.

Related image

I may not have gotten my emerald ring yet, but, I do have a lovely tumbled emerald piece in my crystal collection! Tumbled emerald looks quite different than the deep, rich stone you may be visualizing, because it’s less saturated than what you would find on a fancy ring. To my knowledge, the tumbled emerald I own is “B grade”, because it’s a pale, opaque shade, rather than being bright and “true green.”

Nonetheless, it’s still emerald, and the healing properties of the stone still apply. Because emerald correlates with the heart chakra, it can help to promote love, romance, joy, and faith, along with a plethora of other wonderful things. Emerald is often called “the stone of domestic bliss,” or “the stone of successful love”, because it helps to enhance romantic love and loyalty. That’s not to say your partner won’t cheat on you just because you have emerald, but, people do say the stone changes color if infidelity is occuring. The chances of that being true are slim, but still, what a fun fact!

Emerald doesn’t just aid in love, loyalty, and bliss. It can also help you overcome physical ailments, like arthritis, blood pressure regulation, colds and flu, and overall heart health. As a whole, meditating with emerald promotes a healthy equilibrium for your physical, emotional, and mental health. I find that any type of heart-specific stone can be beneficial in promoting overall harmony and peace, and emerald is certainly no exception to this.

Image result for raw emerald

In regards to rarity, emerald is a very common stone, and can be purchased quite cheaply in a number of online and brick-and-mortar shops. Village Silversmith has a great crystal selection, if you live in the Boston area, but there are also plenty of awesome online shops. Etsy has some great shops, like Auramore and NewMoonBeginnings. I also really like getting crystals from Monk and Moon, because they always have an impressive collection of raw chunks. I do not yet have a raw chunk of emerald, so maybe that will be my next crystal endeavor!

No matter what your reason is for using emerald, I’m sure you will find that the crystal gives you a sense of peace and unconditional love. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but the more you practice self-care and meditation, the easier the love will flow to you.

Coming up next: Healthy Snacks That You Can Feed Your Dog

Over the years, I’ve definitely noticed I tend to pick up a lot of green crystals. It makes a lot of sense; green is my favorite color, and as a hopeless romantic, I definitely need to pay a lot of attention to my heart chakra. For those of you unfamiliar with chakras and their correlations, here’s a recap:

Root Chakra

Color: Red

Aids in: Grounding, emotional security

Sacral Chakra

Color: Orange

Aids in: Creativity, sexuality

Solar Plexus Chakra

Color: Yellow

Aids in: Self-confidence, identity

Heart Chakra

Color: Green

Aids in: Love, compassion

Throat Chakra

Color: Blue

Aids in: Communication, truth

Third Eye

Color: Indigo

Aids in: Wisdom, intuition

Crown Chakra

Color: Purple

Aids in: Spirituality, our relationship with the universe

Like I said, I’m definitely a stereotypical hopeless romantic. I fall in love easily, I get attached on a whim, and I’m guilty of over-fantasizing about every relationship I enter. That being said, I would much rather be too full of love, than not full of enough love. The thing I need to work on the most is just managing my love, so I don’t get hurt so quickly and deeply. I think that’s a lesson we can all learn from: saving our love for someone who really deserves it, instead of just pouring it into the first person who gives us attention. That’s how hurt feelings develop, and in severe cases, abusive relationships.

Image result for green aventurine

I don’t really think crystals can heal every aspect of our life. In some ways, I don’t even really think of chakras as being “real”; I think of them more as metaphors for self-care and positive energy. The rawest healing comes from finding truth within yourself, and facing your demons for what they are.

That being said, I really do feel a strong connection to heart-focused crystals. They may not fix all my problems, but I do find crystals give me a sense of peace and clarity.

Whew, that was a hefty introduction. With that out of the way, let’s get into the metaphysical properties of green aventurine.

Aventurine itself comes in quite a few colors, including shades of blue, purple, brown, orange, and even pink. The most popular, however is definitely green. The beautiful lush green color comes from Fuchsite particles within the quartz, making it appear similarly to jade. Along with being a great stone for love, green aventurine can also strengthen your relationship with nature and Earth. The vibrations of the stone will not only nourish your body, but also your personal living space. Because of this, green aventurine is an awesome stone to use in crystal grids and gardens.

Some other benefits of aventurine that are unrelated to the heart chakra are its abilities to aid in physical growth and promote vitality. Some people also believe that green aventurine can calm unruly school children who struggle with hyperactivity, as the stone can help its wearer focus on the task in front of them.

Related image

Green aventurine aids in emotional stability and helps to soothe the mind, making it ideal for difficult situations like grief and heartbreak. Being close to green aventurine is said to open your heart chakra, and even serve as “armor” for your heart- blocking it from negative energy and emotional pollution. It can be used to give us a sense of control over our own heart- we own it, it is our own possession, and we have the power to choose who enters it. Green aventurine obviously isn’t a magic wand, but it can help provide a sense of comfort and love. I myself struggle with having strong emotional reactions, romantic or not, and green aventurine helps me to harness that energy. It’s a great stone to have on-hand, especially in the form of jewelry. If you have a loved one with a very big heart, green aventurine would be the perfect gift for him/her.

Additionally, green aventurine honors Kuan-Yin, the Chinese goddess of mercy, compassion, and unconditional love. To many, Kuan-Yin is regarded as a protector of women, children, and unsung heroes. All green crystals honor Persephone, the Greek Goddess of Spring & growth.

Image result for persephone

Ultimately, I think of green aventurine as being an essential stone. It’s certainly a stone that I have felt a strong connection and fascination with, especially since it relates to my own emotional energy in such a spot-on way. As with almost any stone, green aventurine is extremely inexpensive, usually ranging in price from $2.00-$20.00. This, of course, depends on the the size and quality of the stone you purchase.

If you’re interested in doing some further research on green aventurine, Crystal Vaults is full of information about every stone you could think of. Let me know if there are any particular stones you’d like me to write about next; crystals are one of my favorite blog topics!

As I’m sure many of you know, I am an avid collector and fanatic of healing stones. Ever since I first became familiar with metaphysical healing about a year ago, I have been slowly (and definitely surely) building a tiny family of crystals and stones to aid me through the journey of life. When I became friends with Alexa, who is a classmate of mine, I was so excited to learn she also shares a love and knowledge of crystals! Today, I’m here share Alexa’s crystal jewelry shop, her advice and knowledge about metaphysical healing, and also, discuss our favorite crystals with a metaphysical healing tag. I found the tag from a YouTube channel called All About Crystals, but we added in some of our own questions as well. Let’s begin!

A brief introduction to crystal healing:

You may be unfamiliar with what exactly “crystal healing” is, and how such an inanimate object could hold so much power. In short, all crystals vibrated to a different degree based on their size, shape, color, and light frequency. These vibrations are able to essentially “sync up” with our own energy vibrations, also known as chakras, and give us a sense of peace, relaxation, and healing.

-How did you first get into crystals and minerals ?

Alexa: I’ve always been drawn to researching alternative medicine and learning how to incorporate natural remedies in my everyday life. I have always loved learning about essential oils, and herbs. I was not aware of all of the amazing benefits of healing crystals until the beginning of college when I was introduced to them by a friend. At first, I was drawn to crystals because they are beautiful, many are mesmerizing to look at. When I began doing research on crystals, I just could not get enough. After about a year of studying all different types of crystals and minerals, I came up with the idea of creating my own healing crystal jewelry shop. I have such an excitement and passion about it, I knew that if nothing else, it would be a super fun hobby!

Sarah: I actually came across a YouTuber around the spring of 2018 named The Lune Innate, and it was she who inspired me to start my own collection/family. I say “family” because I admired how much individual love she had for all her stones, and how each stone seemed to have its own personality. Every crystal also has its own special healing abilities, and it’s fun to go down the rabbit hole of reading about them all!

-How many crystals and minerals do you have in your collection ?

Alexa: I would say I probably have around 100. Most of my pieces are quite small as I mostly buy them from my local crystal shop called “A Broader Concept” in Hooksett NH. Most of their pieces are only 50 cents – $1.00. However, I have recently been expanding my collection to investing in larger pieces. I look at it as an investment because crystals are one of the few purchases you can make that will live longer than you.

Sarah: If I had to make a guess, I would say around eighty. I also tend to buy smaller stones, because they’re cheaper and easier to buy in bulk if needed. Most of the crystals I purchase are from The Village Silversmith, but I also have purchased quite a few online. It’s really amazing how inexpensive they are, considering what you get.

-What was your first ever crystal or mineral?

Alexa: My first ever crystal was a small raw piece of rose quartz. I was going through a pretty rough time dealing with a lot of grief from the loss of loved ones, and the end of a 5 year relationship. After doing research, I found that this crystal is excellent for both grief and heartache. I feel as though it helped me in unexplainable ways and my collection has been expanding ever since.

Sarah: On my first endeavor to buy crystals, I actually got a small bundle of them. I don’t remember exactly what they were, but I specifically remember there was sodalite, green aventurine, bloodstone, rose quartz, clear quartz, black tourmaline, and a few others. Black tourmaline in particular immediately had a strong hold on my emotions, because it’s a very grounding stone to use in your living space. I was able to immediately feel its effects once I brought it into my home.

-If you could only own ONE crystal or mineral for the rest of your life, what would that be and why?

Alexa:  I have a large Rose Quartz puffy heart which is just my favorite piece in my collection. (I love all heart shaped crystals.) Rose Quartz is my favorite crystal for many reasons, it may also have a special place in my heart since Rose Quartz was the first type of crystal I ever owned. Something about the energy really calms me down. I am a fire sign (Aries) and sometimes I feel like I need that kind of energy that will keep me grounded.

Sarah: I definitely would choose bloodstone, without a doubt. Just like Alexa, I am a fire sign, and my energy/ambitions tend to jump all over the place. Bloodstone prevents me from running out of steam too quickly, because it boosts both vitality and energy levels. I definitely feel like I am able to achieve more in my life when I have this stone close to me.

-Is there any crystal or mineral not in your collection you would love to have?

Alexa: Lately I have been finding myself drawn to working with clear quartz and selenite and I would love to own larger pieces of them perhaps large spheres or points.

Sarah: The next stone that I would like to add to my collection is malachite, for a few different reasons. First and foremost, it’s an absolutely gorgeous stone, but it also aids in energy cleaning and positive transformation. I want 2019 to be a healing, transformative year for me, so malachite will be a perfect choice.

I try to make my crystal diaries a regular “thing,” but the truth is, I usually only get around to it once a month or so. I could designate an entire new blog just to crystals; after all, at this point, I probably have over fifty different stones in my collection. I absolutely love crystals and learning all about their healing properties, and bloodstone is actually my favorite stone of all. I feel like all crystal lovers have a particular stone that resonates with their soul, and for me, bloodstone is that stone. As an aries, it’s also one of my birthstones, which further strengthens my connection and admiration for it.

When I first started getting into crystals and metaphysical healing about a year ago, I visited Village Silversmith and purchased 8-10 stones on the spot. One of those pioneer stones for me, as you may have guessed, was a piece of tumbled bloodstone. That night, as I was cleansing my crystals and simply just admiring them, something strange happened. Mind you, I usually scoff at anything involving the supernatural, but I don’t have an explanation for this. As I picked up my bloodstone, the fluorescent light in my room sparked and momentarily went out. My light back turned on abruptly after that, but nonetheless, I was shocked. It was at that moment I knew I had found a powerful stone that resonated with me. The backstory of bloodstone is also intriguing; in the Middle Ages, it was believed that the red spots on bloodstone were actually the drops of Christ’s blood.

As with any metaphysical stone, bloodstone has both physical and mental benefits. Primarily, bloodstone is associated with blood (surprise), the heart, and the circulatory system. Wearing bloodstone close to your body can assist in wound healing and mood stabilizing, and pressing it close to your nose can even help stop a bloody nose. Emotionally, bloodstone can bring vitality, courage, and confidence to its holder. The best adjective to describe bloodstone is “healing,” as it has been shown to revitalize both the mind and the body. Consider wearing bloodstone if you find yourself struggling with scary changes, low energy, self-esteem issues, or even bullying. Keeping this stone close to you can improve your sense of empathy, which may help you relate better to your enemies. Of course, if you’re experiencing severe bullying, you should speak to a trusted adult immediately.

As a fire sign, I am constantly bustling with new ideas and the desire to achieve as much as I can as soon as possible. Bloodstone is a perfect match for fire signs (Aries, Sagittarius, and Leo), who may find themselves full of ambition but running out of steam frequently. If that sounds like you, consider placing bloodstone all around your living space or on your desk. Being constantly surrounded by this stone will boost both your vitality and your energy levels, helping you get more done in a shorter amount of time.

Athletes will also find bloodstone to be extremely helpful, as the stone can boost endurance and increase your strength. The ancient Greeks and Romans wore amulets of bloodstone during competitions, and as a charm to prevent injury during athletic events. It’s truly a versatile and unique stone- and one that I recommend to everybody interested in crystal healing. It has been a powerful addition to my own life, and I guarantee it will be just as helpful in yours.

Can you believe we’re already at the end of December? I only have one more blog post this month. That being said, I have SO many ideas and articles planned out for January, including a mini-series I’m starting called Fashion History Friday. I thought it might be neat to have a different-themed series each month; i.e, February might be Movie Analysis Monday, etc. If you have any other series ideas you’d like to see me do, drop them down below! Thanks for a great year, everyone :).

Hugs and kisses,

Sarah
