Tuesday, March 3

It’s officially March, and it’s even starting to feel a bit like springtime. Today in particular was absolutely gorgeous; I love feeling the breeze on my back and the golden sun on my neck. I took a little walk around the neighborhood with Buck, and we had such a lovely time holding hands and hopping puddles together. These are such sweet days.

Anyway, right now we’re at the library, sitting across from each other and touching shoes. I’m working on blog things, now that my homework is done for today; specifically an upcoming analysis of Regina Spektor’s 2017 album Remember Us to Life. I love analyzing her albums enormously, but they are some of the most time-consuming articles for me to write. Nonetheless, I enjoy challenging myself with content that’s both engaging and thoughtful. Tomorrow I have three back-to-back classes, so hopefully I’ll find a little bit of time to get blogging done!

Hi all, I hope you’re doing well. It’s a bit past 1pm right now, and I’m sitting in the library getting some work done. I have to make some revisions to my ethics paper, then I have to start working on a business essay, and then I’m going to squeeze in some creative writing. I don’t know if anybody else also feels this way, but I can’t enjoy my recreational activities if I know I still have homework that needs to be finished. I suppose this is a good thing, because it motivates me to get all of my work done and keep my evenings free.

I’m feeling pretty good today, although I don’t have much makeup on my face, and I probably look exhausted and saggy-faced. I’m usually quite sleepy in the mornings and afternoons, and by evening time, I’m wide awake and feeling creative. I assume that’s probably what will happen tonight; I do indeed have some external writing projects that I’m really eager to work on! I’ve also been very into writing poetry lately, so hopefully I can find some time for that as well.

Anyway, things obviously aren’t very eventful this week. I apologize for the boring newsletter (albeit, I enjoy things being boring and placid, rather than shit hitting the fan.)

Thursday, March 5

We’re over the hump of the week, and I, for one, am really looking forward to the weekend. I don’t know why, but I’m absolutely exhausted today! I got decent sleep, between 7-7.5 hours, so I’m not sure what is making me so tired. I’ll continue to go back and forth chugging cold water and coffee to see if that helps.

Both of my classes are cancelled tomorrow, so 1) I’m definitely going to sleep in, and 2) I’m going to try to get another draft of my next Analog article done. I’m interviewing a professor at my university, so that should be interesting!

Anyway, I only have one more week until spring break starts. I’m not planning on traveling or doing anything exciting, but it should be wonderful to see my mother and stepfather. I’m also planning on visiting my father, who I haven’t seen since last August. I’m a bit apprehensive, but looking forward to it nonetheless. Also, Buck and I have been thinking about visiting the Little Women Orchard House, so I’ll be sure to take pictures of that if we end up booking a tour! Exciting things ahead.

7:40am: Most weekdays, I wake up sometime between 7am and 7:40am. Today, I was able to sleep in until the latter time because it’s Thursday and my internship doesn’t start until 10am. The first thing I do when I wake up is shut my window, because I usually prefer to sleep with it open (until I wake up freezing!). Then, I get up, wash my face, brush my teeth, and do all those general hygiene things. Because I shower at night, I don’t have to spend time on that in the morning.

That early-morning train life.

Surprisingly, I am able to get up relatively quickly without feeling groggy or tired. This is probably because I used to suffer from severe insomnia, and now that I’m getting 7-8 hours of sleep per night, my body is SO happy to get up in the morning feeling rested and grateful. Anyway, after I get dressed and do all my bathroom stuff, I will usually put on a quick face of makeup. I love making time to put on a full face of makeup in the morning, because it really feels like “me time” and it helps me to relax. This morning, I listened to “The Vanished” podcast while I got ready.

8:40am: A little before 9am, I walk to my college’s closest shuttle stop so I can get to the train station for work. The train isn’t too far from my dorm, but while the weather is still cold and slushy, I definitely prefer to take the shuttle instead of taking the walk. I haven’t eaten breakfast yet because I’m not really hungry when I first wake up, so I had some orange juice instead while I waited for the train. My train commute is about 30 minutes or so, and then I walk an additional 15 minutes to get to my work.

9:45am: I usually get to work about fifteen minutes before my shift starts so I can make myself a cup of coffee and wake up slowly for the day. As many of you probably know, I prefer to drink my coffee hot and black, and I also had a CLIF bar for breakfast. Now that I’m settled into work, I’m ready for all of the meetings, marketing projects, and writing assignments coming my way!

1:00pm: I have my lunch break at 1pm. Because I work in a building that is also a school, we get free lunch every day at the cafeteria! Today I’m eating sesame tofu, mixed grilled veggies, and raw broccoli for lunch. Raw broccoli is my favorite vegetable, so I tend to eat it A LOT throughout the week. I had a great conversation with my co-workers about queer theory as well, so that was really awesome.

4:00pm: I wrap up my work for the day at 4:00pm on the dot, so that I can book it back to my university before the sun goes down. I always love my commute home for some reason; obviously leaving work is a nice weight off one’s shoulders, but for me, I also find the walk at sunset extremely calming and reflective. I definitely associate this walk with good energy.

6:30pm: Depending on the day, I’ll eat dinner between 5:30 and 6:30. Today, as you can see, I went a bit later than usual so that I could eat with my friend Arria. My dinner tonight was definitely not well-balanced; I had a handful of raw cauliflower and half a slice of pizza. Nonetheless, I was happy to catch up with my friends, socialize, and share gossip with each other.

7:30pm: I don’t actually have any homework due tomorrow, so I’m able to relax and leisure for the rest of the night. Sometimes I’ll go over to my friends’ dorms to hang out for the evening, but tonight my social battery was low and all I wanted to do was watch Netflix in bed. I also take my nightly shower sometime between 7pm-9pm, so that my hair can air dry while I’m sleeping.

11:30pm: I take all of my medications and supplements around 11pm or so, including my melatonin and unisom, so that I can fall asleep instantly by around 11:30 or so. I’m definitely a night owl, but my rest is very important to me. I like to have audio on while I’m falling asleep, and lately, I’ve been listening to Poppen Atelier doll repaint videos. Goodnight, everybody!

Hi guys, I hope you’re all having a great Monday! It’s almost noon as I’m writing this, and I have a bit of time to kill until my next class, so I thought I’d get some blogging done. Today is going to be a bit busier than usual for me; I am interviewing Tiana Ferrell (a descendent of Ida B. Wells) for Analog at 2:30, then I have an Analog Meeting, and then I’m going over to my friend’s house to watch The Bachelor. I’m excited to be on top of things and getting projects done! Yesterday was a great day as well; I had dinner with my friends and met an ABSOLUTE ANGEL named Roxie. I mean, come on. Look at that little face!

I didn’t have time to jot down any thoughts yesterday; I can definitely tell that Tuesday is going to be one of my busiest days. For one thing, I have my internship from 10-4, for which I leave at 8am and get back to my school around 5. Then, because I have my Ethics homework due every Wednesday, I usually have to make a bee-line to the library to get that done. Then, pride club meets every other Wednesday, so I like to make a point of attending that from 7-8! It’s definitely been busy around here, as you can see, but I’m having a good time. I really enjoy having a lot of projects to work on, so this week has been all about juggling the blog, Analog, school work, and my internship. I’m going to be interviewing a small musician either today or tomorrow, so I’m really looking forward to getting that finished.

Thursday, January 30

Now that I’m starting to get more comfortable at my internship, I feel like I have a clear vision of my path here and I’m really excited to dive into my work. Surprisingly, I enjoy getting up early every day and I feel even more energized than usual. I’m definitely in a really great place physically, emotionally, socially, so that’s been a huge benefit towards the quality of my work. After I finish up work for the day, I’m going to grab some dinner and try to get some work done for my capstone. My goal is to have an article for Analog finished by Sunday, and then begin preparations for my next three articles and readings. Of course, I’m also pumping out content for the blog, which I tend to squeeze in at odd hours throughout the day. I’m feeling extremely busy, but also incredibly content and full of life. I have a feeling this is going to be a great semester; isn’t it amazing how much things have turned around for me since October?
